It's interesting on two levels, firstly that scientists are so mattered of fact about their 'theories' that they believe them to be true and absolute, beyond question. But, that is until they come across something that questions their own facts because, let's face it, a lot of scientists believe their theories to be just that, facts. It's also interesting that scientists are acknowledging the Grinch I want to drink draw your blood Christmas Shirt, that there is a flaw in that particular theory on planet formations. But I guess they have to justify their existence somehow and also justify their funding.

The scientist's model is based on human understanding to date. The fact that this planet defies their model predictions only shows their model needs tweaking. And that there is a factor, or maybe more than one, that is missing from the model.
