And it’s a hell of a complicated story to finish. I’ll still read it if and when it gets released, but the show is going to finish the same story years in advance. Some of the stories seem to come from before the 5-year gap plan was dropped, like Theon and Stannis, and they are magnificent, but then there is dross like Danny and Tyrion. It’s a terrible shame. I tried rereading the books recently and they just felt flat. I will watch the show, and then, of course, I’ll read the remaining books. Those books still mean more to me than the show does, and I hope that remains the case after I read. I honestly don’t know if I will read them.
