only waking to be fed. A Scottish custom I believe. I have never been able to
figure out how a college or university can not have a childcare center available
to students and faculty and staff. Many of these same schools offer courses and
degrees in Early Childhood Education. Use them for OTJ learning! Nursing
students would have a ready source to practice doing pediatric assessments on
healthy kids. Music students can provide nap time lullabies. So many learning
opportunities but nobody seems able to put this together.
I don't hold my student's babies while teaching but I do allow them to bring them into the classroom usually in a stroller. They usually behave very well. What matters is giving the students a fighting chance to get ahead in life.
