My auto,-immune problems are severe
and I'm now undergoing treatment basically destroys these B cells and gives
this immune amnesia. The funny old life isn't it. This is a disaster, but
because castles in Japan are primarily wooden, fires are quite frequent, and
this is not the Merry Christmas Grr Argh Buffy Vampire Slayer Ugly Sweater one to be destroyed. The Japanese are rather good at
rebuilding these structures, and they retain the skilled craftsmen to do so.
Having said that, it is a great shame, and there may well be unique artifacts
that cannot be replaced. A cultural disaster but it could be rebuilt/reborn.
In 1945 during the Battle of Okinawa is was shelled by the US Navy battleship USS Mississippi for three days. It was part of the infamous Shuri line, the last defensive stand of the Japanese Army on the island. The main buildings were reconstructed and became part of the University of the Ryukyus.
